Michael Girard

Michael Girard is a retired instructor from the Ontario Police College. He has coordinated the Use of Force Instructor Course, the Firearms Training Program, the Officer Safety Program, and the Conducted Energy Weapon course. As a Use of Force Training Expert, he has represented the Solicitor General’s interests and testified at many police-involved coroner’s inquests. He has also advised the Solicitor General extensively on policy and regulation development. Michael was a member of the Toronto Police Service for 15 years. He performed uniform duties as a police officer as well as teaching use of force and officer safety. Throughout his experience, Michael has acquired 26 years of dedicated use of force and de-escalation training.
