Lucie Rebelo

Lucie Rebelo, B.A. (McGill), LL.B. (UQAM), MLIS (McGill) is currently the director of the law library (Bibliothèque des sciences juridiques) at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Lucie holds a Bachelor’s degree in civil law (LL.B) from UQAM (2005), and graduated with her Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) degree from McGill University in 1987 and also holds a B.A. in French Literature from McGill University (1985). She worked in a variety of positions as librarian for the Ogilvy-Renault Law library in Montreal, and for several Canadian governmental libraries before switching to academic law librarianship. Her previous positions, from 1987 to 2007, included several federal departments’ libraries, including the Department of External Affairs, the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Revenue Canada Agency, and the Translation Bureau. Since 2009, she has been embedded in the UQAM law department as head of the library, and before this posting worked for two years as law librarian, where she taught legal research methodology to students. Lucie’s main scholarship interests include student training and foreign international law librarianship.
