Ionela Bacain
Ionela Bacain Dr Ionela Bacain, PhD, CPA, is a professor of accounting at Humber College in Toronto with over 20 years of experience in higher education and the accounting industry. She teaches accounting courses at the degree and graduate level. As an educator, she is passionate about making complex accounting topics clear, engaging, and relevant. Her teaching philosophy centres on real-world application, humour, and compassion, creating a supportive environment that helps students build both confidence and competence. Prior to that, she worked as an accountant at a variety of private sector organizations.
Supported by these experiences, she continues to promote the power of accounting knowledge to people, organizations, and society. With active engagement in constructive workplace and accounting practices, it is her firm belief that individuals working together can change the world. She brings her accounting expertise to the project, along with a focus on the development of human resources curriculum and course content to promote and build students’ professional capacity from a Canadian context. Her educational approaches are designed to support both the human aspect and the resource requirements for students entering this challenging profession. She is a long time Certified Public Accountant and holds a PhD in accounting from Alexandru Ioan Cuza (Al.I Cuza) University in Romania.
