Ashlyn O'Mara
Ashlyn O’Mara is a lawyer, legal educator, communications strategist, and author of several Emond textbooks, including Advocacy for Paralegals, Communication and Writing for Paralegals, and Communications for Legal Professionals. She is the founder of The Solo Practice Lab, a transition-to-practice program supporting newly licensed lawyers and paralegals in launching independent, ethical, and sustainable solo practices through structured mentorship, real-world experience, and professional development. For more than a decade, Ashlyn has contributed to paralegal education in Ontario as a professor, coordinator, and academic leader. Her work has included teaching advocacy, tribunal practice and procedure, legal drafting, ethics, and career development, as well as responsibilities related to accreditation, curriculum development, program coordination, and academic administration. She also developed Seneca Polytechnic's Mooting Program and coached student teams in provincial and national mooting competitions, where her students consistently achieved top placements and other advocate awards. Ashlyn is a graduate of McGill University’s Faculty of Law, holding both civil and common law degrees.
